Starting today, Friday, September 25, the Japanese version theme song "Your Letter – Japanese Ver." for the Korean animated film "Your Letter," which has opened nationwide, was released for distribution in time with the film’s release date. The film "Your Letter" is a feature-length animated work based on the comic of the same name by Cho Hyeon-a, which gained popularity as a webtoon. It is a moving work in which Sori, a girl who becomes the target of bullying after standing up for a friend and is transferred to a rural school, is led by a mysterious letter she finds in her desk and encounters new friends and important connections. The director is Kim Yong-hwan, whose YouTube short animation series "A Day Before Us" recorded more than 150 million total views. After its release in Korea, the film became a hit, surpassing 220,000 admissions, and at the 26th Bucheon International Animation Festival it achieved a triple crown of the Jury Special Award, Technical Award, and Music Award. In addition, it has been submitted to film festivals around the world, including the Ottawa International Animation Festival, and it is already a hot topic work for which distribution in 166 countries and regions has been decided. The newly distributed "Your Letter – Japanese Ver." is the Japanese version of the theme song "Your Letter," which drew a strong response in the original Korean version. Nako Yabuki, who plays the protagonist Sori in the Japanese-dubbed version of the film, was in charge of both the Japanese translated lyrics and the singing. A theme song music video using footage from the film itself and a comment video containing scenes from the recording session held in Korea have also been released. For Yabuki Nako, recording in Korea was her first time in about five years since her activities with IZ*ONE, and this is also her first attempt at writing Japanese translated lyrics for another artist’s song. Making use of the experience and expressive ability she has cultivated in both Japan and Korea, she wrote Japanese lyrics with respect for the original song. This song depicts the kindness contained in a letter left for Sori, who has transferred schools, and the irreplaceable connections between people. Yabuki Nako’s transparent singing voice overlaps with Sori’s delicate emotions, leaving an afterglow as if Sori herself were speaking from within her heart. In Korea, the original version sung by Lee Su-hyun of AKMU drew attention as "a new masterpiece of the Korean animation world," and it became a major topic, with cover videos by many celebrities being produced.
