ITZY's Ryujin makes her full-fledged acting debut in the movie 'Night on the Ground.' 'Night on the Ground' depicts a story set in a society thrown into chaos by the emergence of a jellyfish variant, focusing on a young man 'S' who escapes from life and hides in a bathtub. He meets people at an illegal treatment facility 'Manbok Pension' and confronts life again. Based on the short story by writer Im Seon-woo, it combines fantastical imagination with a lyrical narrative of growth. This work won the BH Entertainment Award among the submissions for the 'Jeonju Cinema Project: Next Edition' at the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival, recognizing its potential. After the festival, full-scale production began and wrapped up in October. Director Jung Soo-hyun, a creative newcomer who has also worked as a producer and actor, expressed a desire to warmly portray the process of a young man losing himself in disconnection and isolation while connecting with strangers who choose extinction. He hopes the film's rich texture of life will remind audiences of the beauty of humanity. Director Park So-young, who directed the TVING original series 'Pyramid Game,' also participated as a creator, enhancing the film's quality. The character Hijo is played by Park Yu-rim, while Ryujin from ITZY plays the character Gang, marking her leap as an actress. Before debuting as a singer, she had a minor role in the film 'The King,' but this marks her official acting debut. The reclusive young man 'S' is portrayed by newcomer Kim Dan, who gained attention for his role in the drama 'TRY ~ We Will Become Miracles ~,' delicately expressing the complex inner world of a sensitive youth. Additionally, seasoned actress Kim Gook-hee plays a guest at Manbok Pension, reflecting on her life after living for her family. Known for heartfelt performances in films like 'The Black Nun' and dramas like 'Family Planning' and 'Moving,' she delivers a dense portrayal of her character's life, evoking warmth and emotion. Kim Si-ah, who has impressed in films like 'Miss Back' and 'Kill Boksoon,' also makes a special appearance as 'Girl,' showcasing a character with a gentle appearance but a rough demeanor, creating a captivating contrast. She brilliantly expresses a character who pretends to be strong while harboring a fragile inner self during a love escape to Manbok Pension with her boyfriend, leaving a deep impression. 'Night on the Ground' has completed filming and is entering post-production, aiming for screenings and releases at major film festivals in Korea and abroad.
