The Korean BL drama “Sugar Cube Sound” will be exclusively streamed on FOD from 0:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23. “Sugar Cube Sound” is a love story based on the webtoon of the same name that became popular in Korea. It depicts Han-yul, a young man with a beautiful singing voice who stopped singing because of something that happened in the past and lives while avoiding the public eye, and Lee Won, a genius composer with extraordinary talent who nevertheless has a side he never shows to anyone. The two, who are bound by the past, meet and are drawn to each other while facing their respective wounds and secrets. Han-yul is played by Yoo Do-hyun, formerly of the boy group MIRAE, who has a sweet and smooth singing voice. Lee Won is played by Cho Chan-hyeong, who drew attention in BL dramas such as “Jun and Jun,” and UP10TION’s Kogyeol also appears. The cast, each with distinctive personalities, carefully expresses the fluctuations of their emotions and vividly brings out the world of the work. Han-yul, who remains trapped by the past of losing his best friend, and Lee Won, who hides complicated intentions behind a gentle smile. The process by which Han-yul, who cannot easily open his heart, and Lee Won, whose true intentions are somewhat hard to read, gradually close the distance between them is carefully depicted. The back-and-forth between the two, sometimes sweet and sometimes cute, and Lee Won’s overprotective expressions of love are one of the highlights of this work. Also not to be missed is the dramatic direction unique to a work themed around music. The 모습 of Han-yul, who gave up singing, regaining his singing voice again, and Yoo Do-hyun’s rich singing ability, make the story feel more real. Han-yul, who lives while being trapped by the past, and Lee Won, who continues to support him. This work, which delicately depicts the two people with wounds communicating through music and being drawn to each other, is attracting attention. ■ Work overview “Sugar Cube Sound” Distribution: Exclusive streaming starts from 0:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23 Simultaneous worldwide streaming of two episodes every Friday Cast: Yoo Do-hyun, Cho Chan-hyeong, Kogyeol Original work: “Sugar Cube Sound” Author: Kim Tak Director: Yoon Jin-young Script: JD Creator: Yang Gyeong-hui ■ Related link “Sugar Cube Sound” streaming page
