TWICE’s Jihyo is leaving JYP Entertainment (hereafter, JYP). Jihyo left a letter on her own SNS today (the 21st), revealing, “I have come to bring to a close the journey with JYP that I have shared since I was young for 21 years.” She said, “For me, independence is closer to a choice about how to live the time ahead, rather than a conclusion about the time so far. As the beginning of that, I established the new company EMITHAUS.” EMITHAUS, founded by Jihyo, aims to expand an artist’s individuality and creative ability into music and various content. As the company name suggests, inspired by “EMIT,” which means “to emit” or “to radiate,” Jihyo plans to continue various challenges in a new environment and expand her own possibilities. Jihyo will continue her solo activities while also continuing activities as a member of the group TWICE. Starting with Jihyo’s solo activities, EMITHAUS plans in the future to discover and welcome various artists and expand its business area into music and content in general. ・TWICE’s Jihyo to become an MC! First lineup for “D Awards” revealed, from AND2BLE to KISS OF LIFE ・TWICE’s Jihyo shows off a sexy dance with the Eiffel Tower in the background... her long legs and red high heels are captivating [Full text of Jihyo’s SNS post] Hello. This is Jihyo. I am leaving a message because I have something I want to tell everyone. I have come to bring to a close the journey with JYP that I have shared for 21 years since I was young. When I try to summarize 20 years into a few lines of text, it is not as easy as I thought. From childhood, through youth, and until becoming an adult, I spent most moments of my life at JYP. There were good days and there were not-so-good days, but the only certain thing is that all of that time made me who I am now. I sincerely thank all the JYP staff members who stayed by my side for a long time and helped me grow. I will never forget the time and feelings we shared together. For me, independence is closer to a choice about how to live the time ahead, rather than a conclusion about the time so far. As the beginning of that, I established the new company EMITHAUS. Like EMIT, which means “to radiate,” I want to freely expand even the possibilities of mine that I have not yet found here. Since I am leaving a familiar environment and continuing to work in a new way, I will approach all future choices and activities with greater care and a sense of responsibility. And this choice does not mean a farewell to the team I have spent a long time with. TWICE is an important existence that cannot be separated from my life. I look forward to the time we will spend together in the future just as much as the time we have spent together so far. I want to continue standing on the same stage with the members and keep the time we create together going for a long time. Above all, I thank all the ONCE who have believed in me and watched over me for these 11 years. I know well that it is by no means something to take for granted that you have watched over one person’s many changes and growth for such a long time. Thank you for giving me courage through your unwavering trust and support for so long. I will continue to fill the time ahead with choices and efforts that are like me, and I will grow into an artist who is not ashamed of the love and support you have sent me. Thank you.
