Yuna of ITZY spoke about the meaning of her 7 years of activity as a member of ITZY. Today (23rd) afternoon, she held a press conference to commemorate the release of her solo album 'Ice Cream' at Pullman Ambassador Seoul East Pole in Gwangjin District, Seoul. Yuna, who debuted as ITZY in February 2019, re-signed with her agency JYP Entertainment with the members last September, breaking the so-called '7-year curse.' Having produced many hit songs and held large-scale tours both domestically and internationally, she has been loved by music fans worldwide. Yuna said, 'Looking back on the 7 years, the time has been very meaningful and precious to me. I vividly remember everything I experienced with the members over these 7 years.' She continued, 'There were many first challenges with the members. Although there were many first experiences, looking back, I can say it has been a steady growth over the 7 years. I think the second act as solo Yuna is starting, and I hope to be remembered as an artist who has a good influence on many people.' Regarding being the second member to debut solo in the group, Yuna confessed, 'It’s a lot of pressure to release my first solo album in the 7th year of my debut, but on the other hand, I want to succeed. Thanks to Yeji unnie, who worked hard on her solo activities first, I was able to receive a good influence and do my best.' She added, 'I was a little scared. I was worried and anxious about whether I could really do a solo album by myself, but as I progressed with the preparations, I gradually gained courage. Thanks to all the staff who worked with me, the members, and our MIDZY (ITZY's fans).' She also mentioned that the order of things was decided after sufficient discussion, not just by her alone, and that it was a time to learn and grow. What kind of supportive words did the members send? Yuna recalled, 'I played the title track for the members first. They said, 'It suits you so well,' and 'I can imagine you performing this song on stage.' Furthermore, 'Yeji unnie came to the music video shooting site. The moment I saw her, I burst into tears. I really wanted to see her, and her support was a great strength. The members also sent a snack truck. It was winter at that time. They sent a snack truck with taiyaki and Korean oden, which was really delicious. It was a great strength during the shoot. I feel like I ate about five taiyaki at that site.' JYP Entertainment's representative, Park Jin-young, also showed his support. Yuna said, 'When I just started preparing for the solo album, I met PD Park Jin-young once due to filming. He said, 'Oh, Yuna, I'm really looking forward to it. Do your best. Don't get hurt, take care of your health, and I hope you can finish it well.' His words, spoken with a very affectionate gaze, resonated with me. I received great strength from that. He has watched over my growth since I was young, so I think he looked at me with even more affection.' Yuna will debut as a solo artist through 'Ice Cream,' which will be released at 6 PM today. The title track 'Ice Cream' is a catchy song that pops like bubble gum, conveying the message to enjoy the sweet moment that melts like ice cream without missing it, aiming to uplift listeners.
