A one-year prison term was sought for the person in charge who had been responsible for managing WINNER’s Song Min-ho’s attendance. On the 20th, prosecutors requested a one-year prison sentence at the closing trial of A, the person in charge of the alternative service facility, held at the Seoul Western District Court. The prosecution explained the reason for the sentencing request, saying, “Please take into consideration that he facilitated Song Min-ho’s ability to be absent without permission for a long period of time and actively took measures so that he would not be caught by the supervisory authority.” The prosecution had previously sought a sentence of one year and six months in prison for Song Min-ho. Song Min-ho is suspected of violating the Military Service Act by repeatedly being absent without permission while serving as a social service worker at the Mapo-gu Facilities Management Corporation from March 2023 to December 2024. A was indicted on suspicion of failing to properly manage and supervise Song Min-ho’s alternative service. A admitted that there were improper points in the handling of attendance, but denied prior collusion and division of roles. In his previous final statement, Song Min-ho said, “I would like to offer my apologies to everyone. I am currently receiving treatment for panic disorder with all my effort. If I regain my health and am given the opportunity to serve again, I would like to faithfully carry out my duties to the end.” The sentencing hearing for A and others will be held on October 1 this year.
