THE BOYZ leader Sangyeon has been discharged from the military. Sangyeon completed his full-term discharge this morning at 9 a.m. today (the 16th) through the Army Student Military School in Gwesan County, Chungcheongbuk-do. He enlisted on March 17 last year as an active-duty member of the Army military band, and after about 1 year and 6 months of sincere service, he became the first member in the group to be discharged. At the discharge site on this day, the members of THE BOYZ rushed to greet him, celebrated the return of their dependable leader, and showed unchanged teamwork. THE BOYZ, which debuted in 2017, established its position as a representative fourth-generation K-pop boy group by producing numerous hit albums following its victory on Mnet’s 'ROAD TO KINGDOM.' After its exclusive contract with IST Entertainment expired in December 2024, the group moved to One Hundred, but became embroiled in a contract dispute due to issues such as unpaid settlement money. Earlier this year, nine members excluding New—Sangyeon, Jacob, Younghoon, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Q, Sunwoo, and Eric—requested termination of their exclusive contracts, and in April of this year, when the court accepted the provisional injunction request to suspend the effect of the exclusive contracts, the dispute with the agency came to a close. After that, the members moved their new activities to the new label 78 RECORDS and have declared that they will continue group activities as a nine-member team.
