Newcomer global girl group VCHA of JYP Entertainment (hereinafter JYP) raised expectations for their official debut with a teaser sound of a new song following their self-introduction content "Who's" series. They announced their official debut date at the end of the performance video of the pre-debut single "Ready for the World," which was released on the official channel on December 1 last year, and have been sequentially releasing the self-introduction content "Who's" series of the members since January 8. On the 12th and 13th at 2 p.m., videos featuring KG and Kailey were released. KG began talking about herself with a smile. She started by introducing her healing spot in Malibu, Los Angeles, California, her hometown, which only she knows, and talked about trivial things such as her favorite color, food, season, and songs that give her energy, appealing her friendly charm. When asked about the most important thing to her, she answered, "To work hard and become a good person. I want to positively influence people around me in everything I do, including my music activities." She also expressed her gratitude for those who recognized her growth last year and said she wants to inspire their lives. Next, Kailey introduced herself as "passionate, hardworking, and a perfectionist." She mentioned the moment she was chosen as a member of VCHA in the global girl group launch project "A2K" (A2K, America2Korea) co-produced by JYP and Republic Records, the No. 1 label selected by the U.S. Billboard under the Universal Music Group in 2023. Kailey looked back on the time when Park Jin-young said, "You were born to be an idol," as the most memorable. She also expressed her goal to debut as VCHA in 2024 and engage in various activities such as concerts and tours, and encouraged herself not to forget to keep working hard even if she falls. Then, at 2 p.m. on the 14th, the second teaser sound of the title song "Girls of the Year" of the 1st single was unveiled. They pre-released part of the new song's source that exudes energetic energy on the first day of the new year, stimulating curiosity about the full version with a fantastic melody and sweet vocals. They have been attracting the interest of global fans even before their debut, and they take a powerful first step to become "girls representing the year" literally as the name of the new single "Girls of the Year" suggests. VCHA's debut single "Girls of the Year" includes two songs, the title track and "XO Call Me." The title track, filled with aspirations for a bright future, features top writers such as Marcus Andersson, Lauren Aquilina, and Chloe Latimer. They have been attracting attention from major overseas media such as the U.S. Grammy and NYLON even before their official debut, and as their group name suggests, they aim to shine light on fans and the world and deliver positive energy to the music industry in 2024, capturing the hearts of global fans. VCHA's 1st single "Girls of the Year" will be released at 2 p.m. on the 26th. They plan to hold a live stream at 3 p.m. on the same day to celebrate their debut with fans.
KG has announced the end of her contract with JYP, leading to VCHA's rebranding as GIRLSET. This follows legal disputes and member changes, including KG's claims of mistreatment and Kaylee's departure for health reasons. The group will now continue with four members: Lexi, Camila, Kendall, and Savannah.
