SEVENTEEN and aespa won the grand prize at the '2024 MAMA AWARDS'. On November 23 at 3 PM, the second day of the '2024 MAMA AWARDS' was held at Kyocera Dome Osaka. On this day, the grand prizes in three categories were announced. SEVENTEEN won two of them: 'Album of the Year' and 'Artist of the Year', showcasing their strength. In particular, the 'Album of the Year' was awarded for the second consecutive year, and they also won 'Best Male Group'. Hoshi expressed gratitude to CARAT (the name of SEVENTEEN's fans) for allowing them to be 'Artist of the Year'. He said, 'I never thought we would win two grand prizes at 'MAMA'. The grand prize we won last year after eight years gave us the meaning that if you don't give up, you can achieve it, and this year's two grand prizes mean to keep moving forward as SEVENTEEN. I will work really hard.' The overall leader S.Coups expressed his longing for Jeonghan, who enlisted as a social service worker, and Jun, who is active in China, shedding tears as he said, 'I wish we could have received the award as 13 members... I will properly convey this feeling when I meet them.' Woozi also said, 'SEVENTEEN won the grand prize at 'MAMA' for two consecutive years. This year, two of them. It was absolutely unimaginable for us. They say imagination is free, but I couldn't even imagine this.' He added, 'Yesterday was my birthday. I don't like to celebrate because it feels heavy. However, receiving such a wonderful award makes me happy.' He continued, 'I can proudly say that I have never neglected music research while making music for over ten years. I will live my life giving back until the end. Although it's a common phrase, I believe the best way to repay as a singer is with a good album. We will definitely continue strongly as 13 members. I love you.' Meanwhile, aespa, who was loved by many this year with 'Supernova', swept the '2024 MAMA' awards. After winning the grand prize 'Song of the Year', the members expressed their gratitude to fans and their agency, SM Entertainment. Karina said, 'I think the fans know, but our goal this year was to 'win the grand prize'. I am very happy to receive the award at 'MAMA'. It's been three years since we performed at 'MAMA'. Three years ago, due to COVID-19, there weren't many fans, but I am happy to share the joy of receiving the award with everyone in such a big dome. November 17 was our 4th anniversary since debut, so I want to dedicate this award to MY (aespa's fan name).' aespa achieved five crowns, including 'Best Female Group', 'Best Music Video', 'Best Dance Performance - Female Group', and 'Best Choreography'. G-DRAGON, who performed at 'MAMA' for the first time in nine years, showcased an impressive stage with SOL and D-LITE, following the release of his new song after 7 years and 4 months, demonstrating BIGBANG's influence and strength. He also won the newly established 'Music Visionary of the Year' award. He remarked, 'Both personally and as a group member, I first stood on the 'MAMA' stage in 2007, but personally, I stood on stage for the first time in nine years. We have been together for 17 years.' He added, 'Receiving this award, it seems that this meaningful day will remain as a better memory. I am grateful. I thank the VIP (BIGBANG's fan name) who allowed me to return home today wearing a beautiful outfit, shaking the yellow light.' Additionally, actress Mei Nagano made a surprise appearance as a presenter alongside Im Si-wan, drawing attention. She greeted cheerfully, 'Hello! I am Mei Nagano, an actress. I am very happy to be in such a wonderful place.' She also charmingly expressed her love for K-POP in Korean, receiving cheers. Actor Byung Wook, who gained popularity with 'Run with Song Jae', also won the 'Favorite Global Trending Music' award. He expressed gratitude to the 'Run with Song Jae' team for supporting him to sing well as an actor, and sincerely thanked the fans who loved their works and songs. He said, 'Thank you, Ucheton (Byung Wook's fan name). I love you.' Byung Wook mentioned actors who appeared as the band ECLIPSE in 'Run with Song Jae', including N.Flying's Lee Seung Hyup, saying, 'We won. This was ECLIPSE.' He then passionately sang the OST 'Sonagi (Sudden Shower)' from 'Run with Song Jae', summoning Ryu Song Jae, whom he portrayed in the series, to the stage.
