Song Min-ho of WINNER has been confirmed to re-serve. The Military Manpower Administration side announced today (the 16th) that Song Min-ho was found guilty in the first trial, did not appeal within seven days of the relevant ruling, and the judgment has become final. An official from the Military Manpower Administration explained, "Based on the written judgment, we plan to comprehensively review the exact re-service period and the assigned institution, etc." It has been confirmed that the notice of the re-service confirmation has not yet been officially delivered to the person himself. The official said, "Since matters related to re-service are personal information, it is difficult to specifically disclose the timing of the notice." The notice of re-service is expected to be made once the related procedures are completed. Song Min-ho had been serving as an alternative service member at the Mapo District Facility Management Corporation from March 2023 to December 2024, but he was suspected of violating the Military Service Act, such as not reporting to his workplace normally. According to the prosecution, out of about 430 total workdays, Song Min-ho had 102 unauthorized absences. At the first trial held at the Seoul Western District Court on April 21 this year, the prosecution requested a sentence of one year and six months in prison. On that day, Song Min-ho stated, "I would like to apologize to everyone. I am currently receiving treatment for panic disorder with all my effort. If I regain my health and am given the opportunity to re-serve, I will faithfully serve until the end." The first-trial court, at the sentencing hearing held on October 1, sentenced Song Min-ho to one year in prison and two years of probation. The court pointed out that "military service is a basic duty of citizens and must be faithfully carried out, and social service personnel are no exception," and said that the nature of the offense was not light. However, it added that it decided to reduce the sentence because Song Min-ho admitted all the charges and vowed to fulfill his military duty during the remaining service period. On the day of the sentencing hearing, Song Min-ho told the press, "I truly regret and reflect deeply. I am also sorry to the fans who loved me so much. There is no excuse." Furthermore, through a handwritten apology posted on his official SNS on the 9th, he said, "I apologize for causing concern to many people because of me. I should have made my position clear as soon as possible, but it became too late. I am sorry for making you wait for so long. Above all, I am truly sorry for disappointing the fans who value me more than anyone, as well as everyone who faithfully fulfills their military duty. Regret continued day by day. I was ashamed of and hated my irresponsible choices in the past. I will not turn away from my foolish mistake and will reflect on it." He further added, "I will faithfully carry out the remaining procedures and duties in the future. I will keep this matter in mind and live with a more responsible attitude." ・WINNER Song Min-ho suspected of violating the Military Service Act... sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for two years in first trial ・WINNER Song Min-ho updates SNS for the first time in about 3 years and 7 months... apologizes for evading military service in a handwritten letter, saying 'I am ashamed of my past choices'
