ILLIT’s Minju captured the hearts of GLLIT (the fans’ name) with her one-of-a-kind singing voice and sensibility. On September 6, she released a cover video of “10 Minutes” on ILLIT’s group official YouTube channel. “10 Minutes,” the solo debut song of singer Lee Hyori, was released in 2003 and, at the time of its release, swept No. 1 on music shows and enjoyed explosive popularity, causing a nationwide boom and establishing itself as a hit song representing the 2000s. Minju reinterpreted the original song in an R&B style, creating a different atmosphere. Her signature delicate vocals and distinctive groove seeped throughout the entire song, clearly highlighting her own unique color. Added to that, rich expressiveness further heightened the sense of immersion. The visual beauty infused with a Y2K taste is also eye-catching. Sensible direction using lighting and wind, etc., enhances the retro charm while maximizing the confidence and bold energy contained in the song. Minju’s kitschy styling and mysterious visuals also give off a unique aura, making it a deeply memorable video. According to BELIFT LAB, Minju actively participated in this video not only in selecting the song but also by offering her own ideas for vocal direction and chorus recording. Since this is the first official cover video she has ever released, she paid attention to every detail to reflect her own musical style and increased the song’s completeness. Minju said, “’10 Minutes’ is a song I love and have been listening to a lot lately, so I really wanted to deliver it with my own voice. It was not easy to express the sensibility of that time, but the production process was really fun,” and added, “It is a cover video I prepared with all my effort, so I would be happy if many people enjoy it.” ILLIT will hold “ILLIT LIVE ‘PRESS START♥︎’ ENCORE in KOREA” at Inspire Arena in Incheon on the 17th and 18th of next month. Prior to that, the tour held in Seoul, five cities in Japan, and Hong Kong sold out all seats early, proving the passionate popularity from fans around the world.
