ILLIT’s debut song “Magnetic” has continued its long-running hit in Japan and has set another meaningful milestone. On October 2, according to an announcement by the Recording Industry Association of Japan, the title track “Magnetic” from ILLIT’s 1st mini album “SUPER REAL ME” surpassed 300 million cumulative streams as of August and received “Triple Platinum” certification in the streaming category. This achievement came about 2 years and 5 months after the audio was released in March 2024, and it is the fastest record among songs by overseas female artists that have reached 300 million streams (according to Universal Music). This is the first time an ILLIT song has received “Triple Platinum” certification. Based on cumulative song streams (streaming category), the Recording Industry Association of Japan classifies songs into Platinum (100 million or more), Double Platinum (200 million or more), Triple Platinum (300 million or more), Diamond (500 million or more), and so on, and grants certifications every month. “Magnetic” received “Platinum” certification just three months after its release, updating the shortest-time record for a song by a female group, including local artists. After that, in seven months it added 100 million more streams and reached “Double Platinum,” maintaining overwhelming popularity. Other songs are also making their presence known in Japan. ILLIT’s first Japan-original song “Almond Chocolate” received “Platinum,” and “Lucky Girl Syndrome,” a track from the 1st mini album, received “Gold,” respectively. Not only “Magnetic,” but multiple songs are steadily being loved locally, proving their strong song power. ILLIT will release their 5th mini album “BREAK EVEN” on the 26th of this month. It is an album that previews a change in the “relationships” that have been the main axis of ILLIT’s musical story so far. They declare that they will no longer spend their feelings or time on relationships that do not reward their efforts. The title track “You’re Under Arrest” is a song that sends a powerful warning to the other person who made them misunderstand with suggestive kindness.
ILLIT announced its Oct. 26 comeback with the 5th mini album BREAK EVEN, which marks a shift from one-sided love to putting themselves first. The title track, You're Under Arrest, is a strong warning to someone who misled them. Teasers, concept photos, and an encore concert are scheduled before release.
