NewJeans stood shoulder to shoulder with the best female artists and attracted attention as a world-renowned group. On the 6th (local time), at the "2024 Billboard Women In Music Awards" held at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, they won the "Group of the Year Award." K-POP artists who won the "Group of the Year Award" at this awards ceremony are NewJeans for the first time. Also, it has been about 9 years since the American girl group Fifth Harmony, which was popular worldwide in 2015, won an award in this category. Lainey Wilson, an American country artist who appeared as a presenter, introduced NewJeans as "creating a new wave of girl groups in K-POP, which has long been a male-dominated genre." The members who took the stage with a big cheer said, "Today, we are attending such a wonderful awards ceremony full of amazing artists, and it's truly unbelievable. All the artists here have inspired us, and thanks to all of you, our love and passion for music have grown even more, so we want to express our gratitude." They continued, "Looking back on the past two years, we have received great blessings. We have experienced many new and interesting things and had the best year. I think all of this would have been impossible without everyone who cooperated, including the Bunnies (the name of the fans). We intend to do our best to continue moving forward. We want to continue sharing our love for music with all of you." On this day, NewJeans performed the title track "Super Shy" and "ETA" from their 2nd EP "Get Up," and livened up the atmosphere at the venue. They maximized the charm of high school students in a school look style, and followed up the lively performance with "Super Shy" with a dynamic performance suitable for the fast beat in "ETA," exciting the audience. The audience, cheering with penlights, responded with a chorus and loud cheers, and the artists and industry professionals in the venue also enjoyed the stage. Billboard recently selected NewJeans as the cover star of the magazine, praising, "It was once an industry belief that only boy groups could build a fervent fandom and achieve commercial success (album and concert ticket sales), but NewJeans is a member of the girl group generation that has achieved both, and is changing the paradigm for the success of young female groups." The "Billboard Women in Music Awards" began in 2007 as an awards ceremony to select the best female artists, creators, producers, and executives who have had a major impact on the music industry. This year's awards ceremony was attended by global pop stars such as Karol G, Charli XCX, Ice Spice, Maren Morris, Tems, and Victoria Monét.
