From a girl who dreamed of becoming a pianist to a model, and then an actress, Lee Sung Kyung revealed the secret of her special debut. She gained 10kg in a short period of time for MBC's "Love's Gold Medal - Kim Bok-joo I Fell in Love With" and showed passion for acting. She honestly said, "I felt like I was becoming an actress little by little." On the 5th, Lee Sung Kyung appeared as a guest on "Shuchita (abbreviation for SUGA and the time to get drunk)" released on BTS's official YouTube channel. SUGA said, "We became close during the pandemic, when we first met and even now, we are opposites. You might think, 'Why are the two of us so close?' but we actually have many mutual acquaintances. Rocoberry made the opportunity, and we met." Lee Sung Kyung added, "SUGA is the oldest in the group and always plays a central role, and has that kind of personality. That's why we wanted SUGA to feel like the youngest. So when BTS releases something, we want to praise it. You are not an older brother to us, but 'the youngest and the best!' That was our standard way of cheering." Lee Sung Kyung aimed to become a pianist, but debuted in the entertainment industry as a model. She said, "When I was preparing to enter an art university, my parents suddenly recommended that I participate in a supermodel selection contest." She looked back on that time, saying, "I didn't have anything to write in the career section, so I just took a picture and sent it. It was to choose 200 out of 2000 people. (Then) I passed." She continued, "There was a walking test in the first round, but I had never walked before, so I looked it up on the internet. I think it was terrible. And a few hours later, the first round passers were posted. And I also passed the second round's special skill demonstration. The 50 people who passed the three interviews received lessons for a month. That was when I first wore heels and had my makeup done by a professional. For me, makeup was putting on sunscreen. I was so happy to quit the piano and do this job. I found a job that suited me." While working as a model, she began her career as an actress through "It's Okay, That's Love" in 2014. She said, "At that time, the director and screenwriter told the agency not to teach acting. Later, when I asked the screenwriter why, he said, 'There are no fixed ways of speaking for high school girls or delinquents, right?' At the time, my role was a delinquent high school girl, so I imitated what I thought. All prejudice against (acting) completely disappeared." She confessed, "He helped me act purely as the person thinks. It's still a very big part for me." During the filming of "Love's Gold Medal," she gained 10kg to play the role of a weightlifter. She said, "I suddenly gained weight, so I still have stretch marks. The next day, I ate spicy galbi jjim (braised galbi) that I had never eaten before, and went to the set with a swollen face. There is an image that 'models = thin,' so I was more afraid of not looking like that character than getting fat." She confessed, "It was very difficult, but I still thought, 'Am I becoming an actress little by little?' and conveyed a sense of responsibility as an actress. Lee Sung Kyung announced her appearance on "Shuchita" hosted by BTS's SUGA! Pay attention to their relationship (video available). Lee Sung Kyung donated about 5.5 million yen for elderly people living alone. "I wanted to convey feelings of respect and love."
