SUGA of BTS and his friend, composer Chang Il-jung, looked back on the past. On the 26th, a video of "SUCHITA (abbreviation for SUGA and drinking time) EP.27" was released on BTS's official YouTube channel "BANGTANTV," featuring Chang Il-jung as a guest. They reminisced about an episode where SUGA cried at his solo concert. First, SUGA said, "I heard 'Min Yoongi (SUGA's real name) I love you' from my in-ear monitor before singing the last song on the last day of the performance. It was Chang Il-jung's voice. Why were you crying so much backstage?" Chang Il-jung revealed, "SUGA cried while singing 'Dear my friend,' and the aftertaste still remains. At first, I thought there was an accident. I was monitoring with the in-ear monitor, and since he wasn't singing, I looked and saw that SUGA was crying. Seeing that, I also overflowed with tears." Chang Il-jung added, "The time when the song 'Dear my friend' was produced was 2017. At that time, we were struggling. It was a difficult time for Min Yoongi personally, even though BTS was doing so well. I was struggling, too, and it was a dark time. But the song we produced at that time resounded on such a big stage like this, and seeing SUGA crying, everything flashed before my eyes like a revolving lantern." Before working as a composer, Chang Il-jung debuted on the MBC audition program "Birth of a Great Star" Season 2. He looked back, saying, "I started music in the fourth grade of elementary school. When I went to karaoke with my family, I sang MAYA's 'Azalea' and was praised for being very good. I started music because I felt joy. At the time, audition programs were popular, and I didn't make the deadline for 'SUPER STAR K,' but I participated in 'Birth of a Great Star' Season 2. At the time, there were people like Eric Nam in the rankings. After missing the TOP10, I took a break from activities, and then I received a call from an agency. I saw BTS's debut stage after my debut. That was 12 years ago." Next, Chang Il-jung confessed, "One day, I had to sing on stage, but the song didn't go well. I was supposed to sing a song like a routine I always did, but I couldn't control it. My voice seemed to turn inside out. I thought it was a condition problem and that it wasn't a big problem, but it got worse as time passed. The symptoms also appeared in everyday conversations. I couldn't find the cause, and I didn't know the solution. I think it's a problem that comes from the nerves." SUGA said, "I wanted him to continue singing. I suggested that he should treat his throat and support him no matter how much it costs because I wanted him to continue singing. It was right for him to be in that agency if he wanted to continue as a singer, but I said it would be better to treat his throat first. That was around 2016." In response, Chang Il-jung said, "At that time, it felt like a business partner. No one else talked to me about the problems I was facing. He talked to me while driving, and I was very moved." After failing in his attempt to challenge himself as a singer, Chang Il-jung, who became connected with BTS through "DDAENG," joined BIGHIT MUSIC and is now actively working as a composer. SUGA referred to the solo song "Daechwita" they worked on together, saying, "It was the most hit song among our songs. That was when we decided on the concept of a song based on traditional Korean music." Chang Il-jung said, "When I saw the original video of Korean music for 'Daechwita,' I thought it was something. It wasn't ordinary from the title. I was in a panic, but I listened to it again." In response, SUGA reminisced, "I worked on it while thinking that it had to be finished within a week, and we managed to do it somehow. I came up with the idea, and he realized it. That was the beginning of 'Daechwita.' It was fun." Chang Il-jung said that he has great trust in SUGA, saying, "At first, I was stressed when he said it was different from the direction I thought. It wasn't easy to narrow down the opinions because our ways of thinking and the lives we had gone through were different, but now it's not like that at all. Ultimately, SUGA was right about everything. I won't interfere anymore. If SUGA says '1+1=5,' I'll think, 'I was mistaken. That's right.'" ・BTS's SUGA, appearing from a friend to all members in 15 months...
